RECORDANDO AL GRAN CAMPEON SILVER CHARM.....y la anecdota sobre su derrota en el Belmont Stakes ante Touch Gold

Silver Charm, nieto de Buckpasser, fue un gran campeon norteamericano que casi-casi gana la Triple Corona Norteamericana en 1997.
Lo interesante de la gran campaña de este Campeon, fue que era practicamente imbatible cuando cualquier rival se le ponia al lado. Me recuerda al criollo Don Luis. Algo parecido.
Pues bien, el entrenador de Touch Gold, le dijo a su jinete antes de la tercera de la Triple Corona....: Si queremos evitar que Silver Charm se triplecorone, tienes que atropellar abierto para que Silver Charm NO TE PUEDA VER u oler.
Si te huele y sabes que estas al lado de él, olvidalo porque no lo podrás pasar. El es un super caballo, al que le gusta la competencia, y no se deja pasar.
El jinete de Touch Gold pudo atropellar abierto, Silver Charm ""no se dio cuenta"" y alli se esfumaron los suenos de ser un triple coronado en Estados Unidos...

Silver Charm (Foaled February 22, 1994) is an American Champion Thoroughbred race horse.
Trained by Bob Baffert and ridden by Gary Stevens, Silver Charm won the 1997 Kentucky Derby and Preakness Stakes before falling short of the Triple Crown by placing second in the Belmont Stakes to Touch Gold. He was voted the 1997 Eclipse Award for Outstanding Three-Year-Old Male Horse.
Racing at age 4, Silver Charm won the 1998 Dubai World Cup. For some time, he stood at Three Chimneys Farm. Then, purchased by the Japan Breeders Association, Silver Charm was retired to stud in Japan. He stood at the Shizunai Stallion Station in December 2004. In 2008 he stood at the Shichinohe Stallion Station. As of the 2009 breeding season, he is standing at the Iburi Stallion Station.
In the Blood-Horse magazine List of the Top 100 Racehorses of the 20th Century, Silver Charm was ranked #63.
In 2007, Silver Charm was elected to the United States' Racing Hall of Fame. He sired many great colts, one of them being Happy Go Lucky, the most successful Children's Hunter in the circuit in 2010.
